Sustainability—Maintaining a Strong Foundation

Ohio is home to a vibrant, quality arts and cultural sector on par with any state in the nation. The organizations that make up the artistic foundation of Ohio are critical to the survival of other arts organizations. They provide ongoing services to constituents that cannot be replicated or reproduced. Many have been in business longer than the Ohio Arts Council. Together, these organizations form the backbone of the intricate and complex arts infrastructure of Ohio. The Ohio Arts Council's support of this work is critical, and the Sustainability program is designed to ensure that it continues well into the future.

Just as the OAC provides funding to the smaller and newer arts organizations in Ohio, it is also important that we continue to support the mid-sized and large anchor organizations throughout the state. The Ohio Arts Council is committed to providing consistent operational support to these organizations in recognition of their critical contributions to the arts and cultural sector. The large constituencies they serve, the tremendous economic, cultural, and educational impact they produce and the development of the arts infrastructure that they make possible all demand continued assistance.

The presence of large and mid-sized organizations in Ohio's communities is essential. Ongoing support for arts organizations' annual programming has been a staple of the OAC funding system for many years, and the Sustainability program continues this commitment.

Before applying to this program you must read Guidelines, specifically the legal and program requirements. Unless otherwise stated, all future deadlines will use the new Online Grant Application system (OLGA). No paper applications will be accepted for this program.

The Ohio Arts Council is looking for people to serve on advisory panels to review grant applications. To nominate a panelist complete a Nomination for Panel Membership form or contact Karine Aswad at karine.aswad@oac.state.oh.us or 614/466-2613.
