MUSIC - ORCHESTRA

Cleveland Pops Orchestra

Cleveland Pops Orchestra Since 1995, Cleveland POPS Orchestra has been the resident source of year-long symphonic pops entertainment for Northern Ohio. Lead by its charismatic conductor Carl Topilow, this ensemble of 65 musicians performs a concert series at Severance Hall and holiday concerts at Playhouse Square Center. Their annual New Year’s Concert & Dance has been dubbed Cleveland’s premiere New Year’s Eve celebration.

The orchestra’s current slogan, “Music & Fun for Everyone,” captures the experience of a Cleveland POPS’ concert. Themes range from Broadway, movie music and patriotic tributes to jazz, swing and holiday reviews. Each concert sparkles with variety and audience participation. Conductor Topilow often puts down the baton and picks up one of his brightly colored clarinets to delight audiences with his solo virtuosity and endless improvisations.

Cleveland POPS’ touring ensemble of 40 musicians and guest soloists have presented concerts in many Ohio communities, including Wooster, Wadsworth, Akron, North Canton, Elyria, Brunswick and Berea. Thousands turn out for our free summer concert events. Our concert for Edison College in Piqua helped to raise over $100,000 for the institution’s building fund.

Cleveland POPS’ programs are crafted to the needs and input of the presenters. We offer master classes and lecture demonstrations. Moreover, our musicians love to tour and bring the Cleveland POPS’ brand of “Music and Fun” to everyone in your organization and community.
