Governor DeWine Names Kari Gunter-Seymour Ohio Poet Laureate Governor Mike DeWine has named Kari Gunter-Seymour of Albany, Ohio, the state’s poet laureate. Gunter-Seymour, whose term began June 10, 2020, succeeds the state’s second poet laureate, Dave Lucas. A third-generation Athens Countian, Gunter-Seymour was named poet laureate for Athens, Ohio, in 2018-2020, and the Ohio Poet of the Year in 2020. Athens Organization Selected to Host Rural Design Workshop Led by National Endowment for the Arts An organization in Athens, Ohio, has been selected to host a multi-day design workshop focusing on rural design and creative placemaking. Part of the Citizens’ Institute on Rural Design program, a national initiative that aims to support rural communities through hands-on training and other events, the workshop in Athens will focus on the efforts to preserve and reimagine the use of Mt.
