1 March Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery Seeking Marketing and Exhibitions Fellow March 1, 2018 For Artists, For the Public, Riffe Gallery Applications, CAMA, Fellowship, OAC, Ohio Arts Council, Riffe Gallery 0 The Ohio Arts Council (OAC), a national leader in arts administration, is seeking a dynamic, motivated marketing candidate for a high-quality professional learning opportunity. Designed in partnership with the Columbus Arts Marketing Association (CAMA), this is a paid, yearlong fellowship. The person accepting the fellowship will gain hands-on, practical experience in a professional art gallery and with the state’s arts agency. The Marketing and Exhibitions Fellow will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with OAC staff; grow professionally and practice new skills; contribute meaningfully to the success of the OAC Riffe Gallery and Ohio Arts Council; implement trusted and innovative communication strategies; and have the opportunity to attend networking events to connect with artists and marketing and communications professionals. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with the OAC Riffe Gallery director and other OAC staff to accomplish the following: Marketing & Communications: Create a marketing timeline for each exhibition. Oversee the production and editing schedule for exhibition print materials, advertising, and signage. Prepare and distribute digital media kits to media outlets. Mail and distribute marketing collateral to various business and organizations. Update online calendars. Participate in meetings and conversations regarding exhibitions and marketing strategies. Develop a working understanding of OAC identity and style to ensure consistent voice across platforms and publications. Work in collaboration with the OAC communications strategist to write media releases; create and release electronic exhibition announcements; maintain the Riffe Gallery Facebook page; and write and post web content for each exhibition. Exhibitions & Administrative Support: Assist during special events, including but not limited to exhibition openings, family workshops, artist talks and demonstrations, and other Ohio Arts Council and Riffe Gallery classes, workshops, and conferences. Manage exhibition archives. Follow policies and procedures of the OAC Riffe Gallery, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts. Other special projects or opportunities that may arise during the course of the fellowship. Term & Compensation: 24-32 hours per week, hours may vary due to special projects or events, beginning June 15, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019. The selected individual will be paid an hourly rate depending on experience and level of education. Paid annual membership to Columbus Arts Marketing Association (CAMA). Financial support to attend a national conference focused on visual arts, galleries and museums, and/or marketing and communications during the fellowship. Qualifications & Requirements: One-year or more of marketing experience in an art gallery, museum, or cultural institution, or bachelor's degree in marketing and communications is preferred. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact with the public with an enthusiastic, positive attitude. Professional appearance and behavior are expected. Practical knowledge of and interest in social media, web technologies, and content management systems; familiarity with Hootsuite and MailChimp is preferred. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign). Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects at one time. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Ability to gather and analyze data. Strong interest in the visual arts, arts administration, arts marketing, and communications. Schedule & Location: Flexible daytime hours are available. Some evening and weekend hours are required for opening receptions and workshops. The OAC Riffe Gallery Marketing and Exhibitions Fellow will primarily work in the OAC Riffe Gallery in the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, located at 77 South High Street, Columbus, OH 43215; some opportunities for collaborating with other Ohio Arts Council colleagues will take place at the OAC offices at 30 East Broad Street nearby. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to perform some of the functions of this position. Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, stoop, and crouch.
