10 November Ohio Teaching Artist Roster Welcomes Nine New Members in 2022 November 10, 2022 For Educators, For the Public, News Art Possible Ohio, Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, Ohio Teaching Artist Roster, OhioDance, TeachArtsOhio 0 This year, nine new teaching artists join the Ohio Teaching Artist Roster—bringing expertise in media and traditional arts as well as visual and performing arts. Launched in 2019, the Ohio Teaching Artist Roster is an online resource designed to assist communities and educators in identifying teaching artists who can lead high-quality creative opportunities for students, including in-person and virtual performances, workshops, and longer-term artist residencies. The roster is a partnership between the Ohio Arts Council (OAC), Art Possible Ohio, Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, and OhioDance. The teaching artists joining the roster are: Miriam Baranov, visual arts, Columbus Michelle Boerio, visual arts, Columbus Sara Caplinger, visual arts, Alliance Richelle Denes, visual & traditional arts, Ashland Zak Morgan, music, Cincinnati Stephanie Stewart, visual arts, Akron Demetrius Thomas, music, North Randall Verb Ohio Contemporary Ballets, dance/movement, Shaker Heights Tiffany Wilson, media arts, Reynoldsburg Their selection for inclusion on the roster was based on their demonstrated artistic excellence; ability to integrate academic content; effective classroom management and student engagement; and strong communication with education, arts, and cultural partners. Each teaching artist also commits to ongoing professional development related to their placement on the Ohio Teaching Artist Roster, with opportunities planned in concert between each of the four partner organizations. Now numbering 51 teaching artists, the roster is available as a statewide resource for OAC applicants who wish to work with a qualified teaching artist through TeachArtsOhio. Applications for TeachArtsOhio will open in November and are due February 1, 2023, for artist residencies occurring during the 2023-2024 school year. If you’re a teaching artist interested in joining the roster, applications will reopen in the spring of 2023.
