The Method & the Matrix: Contemporary Printmaking in Ohio will be on view at the Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery November 6, 2003 through January 4, 2004. The exhibition includes work by 15 Ohio artists. Co-curated by Todd DeVriese and Bellamy Printz, The Method & the Matrix explores fine art printmaking and the artists’ fascination with process, experimentation, duplication and the use of traditionally commercial techniques for aesthetic purposes. For fine art printmakers the creation of a reproducible matrix – the surface on which the image is formed and from which each print is created – is a compelling part of the art making process. Each artist in this exhibition takes full advantage of the conceptual and technical means offered by the print medium and makes their mark on the world with their individual matrix.

Featured artists include Ronald Abram (Newark), Emily Blaser (Cleveland), Chris Daniggelis (Columbus), Carolyn Fraser (Oberlin), Margaret Kimura (Cleveland), Holly Morrison (Cleveland), Michael Loderstedt (Cleveland), Marina Mangubi (Wooster), Mary Manusos (Athens), Liz Maugans (Olmsted Township), Mark Patsfall (Cincinnati), J.
